With my experimental work i was trying to find how best i could utilize my materials and how light communicate with it and through it. I played around with different forms of paper cut to try and focus on the light source, so i first tried drawing an image then cutting out the light so to allow the light to flow through. But it didn’t really highlight the best of the acetate and i just feel theirs a more successful visual to be made. i used paper cut outs then applied them to the acetate which really showed the contrast of light and dark.
I really liked this effect but i encountered some technical with the acetate warping due to the glue, and didn’t give the clean cut effect i wanted. although it may be something to carry on in another project
One technique i decided to stick with for my final book is the use of gouache paint as it creates contrast and texture, layered with plain acetate drawings of people. i think they give an interesting acetic and the light source acts as a window to view the other layers.
