Our first brief of the year was to create a book to a high professional standard based on collections for the whole term. This brief was very open to interpretation as it could be based upon a personal collection or a response to someone elses or could even challenge what a collection is. So it gave a lot to play around with but it was also quite difficult to try and focus on one thing as its so broad. I started by doing some research into the artist suggested and also ones that came up in my previous book project Erik Satie biography. We were also told to maybe limit the materials we use so that theirs an obvious acetic to the images.
As i really enjoyed working with acetate i decided to continue this and see what effect i could create. One artist that really stood out was Roderick Mills as he uses linear lines which create great detail but layers this on to block colour. Which i think gives an interesting composition to the image.
This technique of layering, simple line and colour is something i want to integrate into my work.
